Regional Rail Link
Regional Rail Link is...
New dedicated track for regional services
Bendigo and Ballarat lines are now running on new dedicated track
between Sunshine and Southern Cross Station after the completion
of a several week closure for Regional Rail Link works.
About the project
Regional Rail Link is a landmark award-winning infrastructure project designed to remove major bottlenecks in Victoria's rail network. By mid-2014, the majority of works requiring major rail closures will be complete. The project will be completed in early 2015. Find answers to frequently asked questions.
Ballarat and Bendigo line changes
Ballarat and Bendigo trains now use the new Regional Rail Link tracks from Sunshine to Southern Cross Station. The Public Transport Victoria website has details of the new timetables and how to plan your travel as these services will no longer stop at North Melbourne.
Anderson Rd level crossings removed
We have removed two level crossings in Sunshine, one on the Ballarat line and one on the Bendigo, Sunbury and freight lines, improving traffic flow and safety on Anderson Road, and helping to alleviate congestion in the area.
Footscray station works almost done
Over the next couple of months we will be doing minor works to complete the upgrade to Footscray railway station. Upon completion, the station will be transformed into a modern transport interchange with capacity to manage thousands of metropolitan and regional customers daily.
We have developed case studies which show some of the ways we have worked with local communities along the rail corridor during construction. Find out how we have supported the North Melbourne Lost Dogs Home, implemented a Community Identity Program, protected indigenous cultural heritage and more.
