Overview of the route showing the various work packages described below.

Alliance

The following packages are being delivered using alliance contracts:

  • City - Maribyrnong River
  • Footscray - Deer Park
  • Rail Systems

In an alliance contract a government agency works with private sector parties to deliver major capital assets. The parties form an integrated, collaborative team and make unanimous decisions on all key project delivery issues.

You can find more information on the Department of Treasury and Finance website.

Design and construct

The following packages are being delivered using design and construct contracts:

  • Southern Cross
  • Deer Park - West Werribee Junction
  • West Werribee Junction

Design and construct contracts are used when desired outcomes, project scope and performance requirements can be clearly specified by government in a project brief and concept designs.

The contractor is then responsible for developing the detailed designs prior to, or early in the construction process.
